A Snapshot of 4th of July Community Events – MSR News Online
Fun and family-friendly events will take place throughout the Twin Cities region and beyond for the 4th of July weekend.
Due to staffing shortages and construction, the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul will not be hosting the traditional celebration that would have included fireworks over the Mississippi River.
As an alternative, there are a number of free community events – from reproductive freedom marches to traditional parades – spread out across the metro area. Find some highlights below.
July 4, 2022
8 a.m. @ 724 Sibley St. NE, Mpls.
Start your Independence Day healthy with a four mile run. Cool down with refreshments and enjoy a post-race festival with games and treats for everyone.
10:30 a.m. to noon @ 4135 E. Lake Harriet Pkwy., Mpls.
The city of Minneapolis hosts a fun musical matinee in the park coupled with the presence of cartoon artists to capture you and your loved ones.
10am-1pm @ 4802 Grand Ave. S., Mpls.
Come and experience a festival of food, live music and fun for all ages. This kid-friendly gathering includes a bouncy house, snow cones, bouncy castles and balloons for the little ones. $5 cash per entry to access all festival attractions.
All day! 10am-10:30pm @ 1501 Central Parkway, Eagan
Eagan’s 4th of July Party has been a fun way to celebrate Independence Day for over 50 years. This year’s funfest includes great food, a children’s carnival, live music and entertainment, a big parade, and ends at night with spectacular fireworks.
11 a.m. @ 4800 Grand Ave. S., Mpls.
“There is no independence if we are not all free of our bodily autonomy”, say the organizers of the event. In response to the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, protesters will gather peacefully to raise the profile of their cause.
1-3 p.m. @ 2401 E. Minnehaha Pkwy, Mpls.
Family celebration of Independence Day with something for the kids! Come and watch garden games, balloon artists, a children’s DJ and more.
1-3pm @ 4414 N. Upton Ave, Mpls.
Relax and enjoy a comedy show, family lawn games and balloon artists for the kids. Ice cream will be available for purchase.
3-5pm @ 690 13th Ave. NE, pls.
There’s something for everyone at this 4th of July celebration. Sit back and listen to live music, have your portrait drawn by a caricaturist and be mesmerized by the deeds of a traveling magician.
3-6 p.m. @ 4800 Grand Ave. S., Mpls.
This event offers fun for the whole family with classic food trucks and snow cones. Kids can play with inflatables, have their face painted and paint balloons, and the parade is back!
10 p.m. @ 4980 Lake Ave. N., White Bear Lake
For over 50 years, Manitou Days has been a three-week summer festival aimed at bringing the community together. As the festival wraps up on the 4th, come enjoy a night of fireworks, flyovers and music.
