Aurora will provide funds for community events

The City of Aurora has opened its annual local event grant program.

Neighborhood and community groups planning a public event in 2022 can apply for a Neighborhood Festival Funding Grant through the City of Aurora’s Community Services Department.

The application process is currently open.

Funding of up to $1,500 per event is available to help neighborhood and community groups organize special events and neighborhood festivals for the public in Aurora designed to educate, benefit, communicate, organize and/or connect Aurora residents to create a sense of community. .

Neighborhood festival funds may only be used for necessary support services, such as rental of stage or sound equipment, portable toilets, tents, tables and chairs, general liability insurance for the event, security or emergency personnel or other similar “public” facilities.

Funds are also available to support events that require a special event permit from the city.

Events that have received Aurora Festival funding in the past include Roots Aurora, the LaSalle Street Car Show, Juneteenth, and Dia de los Muertos.

The first review of applications will take place on April 1, then on a rolling basis.

No applications will be accepted after October 1st.
