Virtual Impact Week

Join the Miami Marlins for a fun and interactive way to stay active and fundraise for a great cause. The 5km virtual run / walk can be completed at your leisure from 23-29 August.


5K Run: $ 45, includes Mysterious Marlins figure, 5K run t-shirt and medal

1K run: $ 35, includes 1K run t-shirt and medal

Kids run / walk: $ 25, includes 1K run t-shirt, medal, sunglasses, youth sweater and drawstring bag

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Miami Marlins Foundation Youth Baseball and Softball Wellness, Empowerment, and Youth Programs.

Free haircuts for teachers and students

McDougle Technical Institute

McDougle Technical Institute offers free back-to-school haircuts for kids and teachers. Services include shampoo, haircut and barber services. This special is available Tuesday through Friday during the month of August by appointment only.

The Children’s Trust 2021 Family Show

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The Children’s Trust Family Expo returns this year with four pop-up style events in Miami-Dade County. Partnering with existing community events, the family exhibit will feature exhibitors highlighting child care, after-school programming, arts / sports, STEM, health and wellness, special populations, family services and more. There will also be plenty of entertainment, character appearances, animal shows, games and other surprises. All CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19 will be followed. 4th Annual Sandrell Rivers Day

This is an event open to the South Florida community that honors the legacy of Miami’s African American chef, Chef Sandrell Rivers. The event will honor LaTousha Daniels, President and CEO of the Miami Children’s Initiative, with the 2021 Chief Sandrell Rivers Humanitarian Award. There will be many participating artists, including Jesse Jones Jr., Quartet; The Harden project; dancers Alia and Emily Ricca; speech artist Quesha Willis; and rap, spoken word artist, community activist Blaze Carter.

You and your circle of friends are invited to participate in the 5th Annual Pink Walk. This year’s event is both an outdoor and virtual 5K walk / run to benefit the Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative, an organization that is saving and changing lives while providing women at risk with prevention and the early detection needed to overcome the risks of breast cancer and heart disease.
