City park to host trio of community events in December to ‘bring back the magic of Christmas’

Walton Hall Park in Liverpool will be the setting for three community events in December as organizers aim to ‘bring back the magic of Christmas’.

A Christmas market, a big book hunt for children and a meeting with Santa Claus will take place inside the public park as Christmas approaches.

The events were organized by volunteers from The Friends of Walton Hall Park.

Chrisie Byrne, president of The Friends of Walton Hall Park, said the events were “fantastic” for the community spirit.

Chrisie told ECHO: “We are really looking forward to hosting these events in the park.

“A lot of people missed Christmas last year because of Covid and we wanted to bring back the magic of Christmas for everyone this year. Hopefully these events help boost everyone’s morale.”

The three upcoming events in Walton Hall Park are:

– The great Walton Hall Park book hunt will take place on Sunday December 5 from 12 noon. There will be hundreds of free books for children hidden in the park. The event was funded by Awesome Liverpool, GMB Union and Vauxhall Law Center. And book donations come from author Jennifer Jones.

The books were purchased from The Works in Liverpool Shopping Park on Edge Lane

– The Walton Christmas Market will be held in the Walton Community Garden on Sunday December 12, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Everyone is welcome and there will be plenty of Christmas presents and presents. There will be plenty of stalls, festive food and drink, entertainment and games.

– The Friends of Walton Hall Park Santa Is Coming to Walton Hall Park event will take place on Sunday December 19 from 12 noon. Father Christmas and his elf will walk in the park to see the children. He will make a list and double check it.

Chrisie added: “In the big book hunt there will be 740 new books that will be hidden in the park for the kids to take with them and they will be packed.

“The books include titles by Roald Dahl and David Walliams. There are books for girls, books on football and many more as well. We cannot thank the organizations that gave us the funding to purchase the books. books.

“During the Christmas market event, there will be free hot chocolate and tarts for the community. People can spend the day here and have a good time.

“And on December 19th, it will be good for Santa and the elf to take a break from the North Pole and come to Walton Hall Park to see everyone.

“The areas surrounding Walton Hall Park have a population of 45,000 so it is important that we can play our part for the community. We look forward to the events. They will help foster community spirit at this important time.”
