Community volunteers thanked by Mayor of Swindon at special event
THE Mayor of Swindon thanked community volunteers who gave their free time to help those in need.
Abdul Amin council visited a tea party organized by Swindon Borough Council’s Live Well team at Foundation Park near the County Ground.
He said: “It was a great pleasure to chat with some of the volunteers from Forget Me Not Cakes and Swindon Big Knit.
“I looked at some of the fantastic clothes knitted by our wonderful volunteers which are donated to the most needy people in Swindon, including some of the charities such as Threshold.
“These amazing hand-knit garments will certainly benefit many people over the coming winter months.
“I have also had the privilege of tasting some beautiful cakes made by our wonderful volunteers at Swindon Big Knit who donate them to the most vulnerable and elderly people in our borough to celebrate occasions such as birthdays.
“I am truly delighted to see the great work the council is doing with our most vulnerable people, I have greatly appreciated the work of the Live Well team, and I look forward to seeing more of their progress in the years to come. come.
“This team has been involved in helping the people of Swindon for many years through a variety of creative methods.”
