Dances, movies and fireworks: Clayton plans community events

CLAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The City of Clayton has planned several events and programs for the community to enjoy.

The city has announced community programs for the rest of 2022, ranging from dance classes, festivals, movie nights and breakfast.

“Entering the second half of 2022, the town of Clayton has a new and exciting community
outreach programs, mixed with some of our timeless classics,” the city said.

Below is a list of events from late July to December:

  • Northmont Dance Party: July 28 at Meadowbrook in Clayton. Free dance lessons for adults 21+ on favorite wedding dances. Cash bar opens at 6 p.m., dance lessons from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Optional RSVP to [email protected] or 937-836-3500.
  • movie in the park: “Sing 2” premieres at dusk on August 19 at Meadowbrook in Clayton located at 6001 Salem Avenue. The event is free for all community members.
  • Fireworks and Labor Day Festival: The event will take place on September 4 at Meadowbrook in Clayton. There will be free hot dogs, cotton candy, snow cones and popcorn. The festival starts at 7 p.m. and the fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.
  • Government Academy: The six-week academy course will begin on September 14 and will be held every Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Register by emailing [email protected] or calling 937-836-3500.
  • Fire, Police and Service Community Open House: The family event will be held October 4 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Clayton Government Center. There will be games, an obstacle course and hot dogs. For more information, call 937-836-3500.
  • Sweep Clayton Clean: Residents can dispose of trash, storage, furniture, wood, tree branches and yard debris at 200 Woolery Lane on October 15. Dumpsters will be available at 8 a.m. until full, with the event ending at noon. Refrigerators that have been drained of Freon can be removed.
  • Senior learning and lunches: This monthly event will take place on the Wednesday of each month, starting October 19 at Meadowbrook in Clayton from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a guest speaker and a free lunch. Seniors and retirees can RSVP by emailing [email protected] or calling 937-836-3500. October RSVP must be submitted by October 12.
  • Costumes and Sculptures: Children from kindergarten to grade 8 can come and carve pumpkins at Meadowbrook in Clayton on October 23 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. A costume contest will take place afterwards.
  • Coffee with a cop: The event will take place at Boston Stoker on North Main Street in October/November
  • Breakfast with Santa Claus: Tickets go on sale Nov. 14 for the Dec. 10 event from 9-11 a.m. at Meadowbrook in Clayton. Tickets will be at the Clayton Government Center. Seats are assigned, so let the staff know who you want to sit with when purchasing tickets.
