Lexington is accepting grant applications for neighborhood projects

Small grants designed to make a big difference in neighborhoods, hallways

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Through March 1, the Lexington Corridors Commission will be accepting applications for the Neighborhood Improvement Matchmaking Grant Program.

The grant program is designed to improve hallways in Fayette County by partnering with neighborhoods and other community groups to make improvements.

There are 31 eligible corridors. Subsidy proposals must relate to areas adjoining a corridor or located on a corridor. Applications should include activities that are open to the public and benefit the whole corridor, for example:

– Physical improvements to public or community property;

– Activities of planning, promoting or financing voluntary clean-ups;

Neighborhood improvement efforts; Where

– Beautification of corridors through landscaping.

“The Corridors Commission, for a long time, has worked tirelessly on initiatives to beautify the roads of Lexington,” said Councilman James Brown, chairman of the Commission. “I firmly believe that these grant opportunities help empower our neighborhoods to join us in this effort!”

The program is a 2:1 matching grant, meaning that for every dollar requested, the applicant must provide an additional $0.50 in matching.
