Upcoming Halloween, Community Events at Federal Way


The leaves change colors and fall is in the air. Here’s a list of Federal Way’s upcoming Halloween and fall-themed activities.

Saturday 23 October

Underwater pumpkin carving party: 10:00 a.m. at Dash Point State Park. Eight, a Des Moines-based scuba diving center, is hosting an underwater pumpkin carving competition. To watch, participate or get more information, visit the Eight Diving Facebook page.

October 5-25

FUSION Halloween Costume Collection: Until October 25, donate new or slightly used costumes to the FUSION decoration store for families in FUSION emergency housing and transitional housing programs. All sizes are welcome; costumes must be suitable for families (no weapons). Other acceptable donations include Halloween masks, new or unused Halloween makeup, and costume accessories. The FUSION home decor store is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday at 1108 S. 322nd Place.

Saturday October 30

Free Community Game Exchange: 10 am to 2 pm; free community event. Join the South King Tool Library for a game swap. Donate your old video game consoles, complete board games, card games or other games, then bring home some “new” games. for you “. Donations are not necessary to shop. The South King Tool Library is located at 1700 S. 340th Street in Federal Way. To register or for more information, send an email to [email protected]

Halloween fun at the Federal Way Farmers’ Market: 11 am to 1 pm; free for the community. Dress in your best costume and enjoy music, food trucks, a costume contest, photo booth, and other attractions at the Federal Way Farmers Market. Free treat bags are available for kids 12 and under while supplies last and be sure to stick around for the community-hosted “Thriller” show. The market is located behind The Commons shopping center along S. 324th Street.

Tips and Treats at the Federal Way Community Center: 4-6 p.m. outside in the lower parking lot of the Community Center (876 S. 333rd Street); $ 5 per child, adults are free; 2-10 years. Enjoy a haunted walking trail, vendors, and sweets galore. Photo opportunities are provided from the City of Light Church. To register, visit https://bit.ly/2YVCCMD.

Curfew! Black light show and candy maze: Watch one of three identical black light shows at 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m. or 7 p.m. Each show features energetic blacklight songs, puppets, dancing, and a great family message. Wear your costumes, stroll through the candy maze, and sip hot cider or hot chocolate. Christ Church is located at 941 S. Dash Point Road. Sunday October 31

South King Fire & Rescue Candy Chute: 4-8 p.m. at Station 63 (33414 21st Avenue SW). Driving engineer Ann Hoag designed the candy chute in 2020 and she’s back to help the community make candy safely on Halloween. Post a photo of your candy drop experience on social media, tag South King Fire & Rescue and one lucky winner will receive a special department award.
